Wanted- more information on a fleet of World War One non flying replicas built at Melton, Victoria.
I was having a search through various sites and came across an item in the TVAS email edition of "Contact."
It was about three replica purchased by the Army Aviation Museum at Oakey, a Sopwith Camel and two SE5A's from Mrs Cartlidge of Long Forest, Victoria for $17,000. Work was progressing on restoration of the Camel which may or may been E1416 (which served with No.4 Sqn, AFC). The SE5a's were yet to be started.
Mrs Cartlidge's father Tom Vickers retired from Ansett as a draughtsman at the age of fifty-five and spent his retirement well into his eighties building eleven World War One replicas.
Does anyone have more details, serials, types and fates etc.
