I would like to complete a 1/72 Frog kit of this aircraft as it appeared 3 months after its epic Pacific crossing . At the time it first crossed the Tasman and arrived in Christchurch . Dave helped me find the articles from the August 1978 issue of Wings , and one of these by the late Rex Crawford in simple terms , states the aircraft was in the same colours and markings as it was when it crossed the Pacific with the addition of the registration G-AUSU in black under both wings . Now photos of this aircraft at this time appear to be very few and hard to find , and thirty five odd years ago may not have been available to Rex , however I believe that I have seen more than one photo showing the aircraft also carried a black G on a white band on it's rudder and also the G-AUSU registration in white under the fuselage windows . This registration was carried for a relatively short period of time , soon being replaced with the more familiar VH-USU . I have two questions , one , can anyone confirm or otherwise the details of this aircraft when it first flew the Tasman in 1928 , and two , was the G-AUSU displayed to be read from the front on the starboard wing , and from the rear on the port wing ?
