On a recent stay in Brisbane made the hour and a bit (depending on traffic!) journey north to the Caloundra located Queensland Air Museum, I believe one of the largest collections in the country. I first visited this collection some thirty years ago, it has grown somewhat! Ex RAAF Canberra. Two Meteors, one ex RAAF. Second Meteor a tuget tug, ex RAF. Meteor's target set up. A couple of Hunters. I remember I heard at an airshow many years ago the Sabre was said to be the last of the sports car aeroplanes, last one you could fly with the cockpit open. Some Australian Navy types. There is a complete ex RAAF Neptune in about six pieces Caribou’s where retired by the RAAF in 2009 after 45 years service. Some more soon.......

Cool. That Ventura needs to be under cover. They're a lot rarer than most of those jets under the roof.

I visited this museum last October - some great stuff in there. Agree the Ventura should be under cover, but looked in great condition.

Three Australian designed trainers, CAC Wirraway. The Wirraway is an American design, designed by North American Aviation as the NA-16.

Thank you, I love to learn, always understood the Wirraway to be a copied version of the NA-16. I stand corrected and happy to be so, quite a few differences between the NA-16 and the Wirraway.

The way I see it, it was licence built with local modifications, just like the Fletcher here - US design with NZ mods to improve it. And many other cases like it.
