Hi all. On another forum I frequent someone has posted a few pics of the ex RNZAF jets and I found it intersting that they were still wearing the Kiwi. Here is a link to one of the pics taken in November 2016 linkAnd here is a link to the thread where I found the pic. linkI thought some here may find it interesting.

Yes Draken got special permission from NZDF to retain the markings as a tribute to the RNZAF.

That is pretty cool. I also noticed what looks like a squadron insignia on the fin as well.

That insignia on the tail of the first photo belonged to 2 Sqn.

Yes, and like all the others that survived in service till 2001 it will have the No. 75 Squadron Tiki insignia on the port side of the tail.

Great article. I have only ever heard praise when the RNZAF A4's are mentioned by Draken or most of the other US people involved in their use and capabilities. The troops that put together and installed the Kahu upgrade obviously did things right and very well. Makes you feel proud does it not.

I am guessing the ex-RNZAF Strikemasters that recently went to the USA to become similar training aircraft will probably be retaining their NZ colours too?

The Kiwi roundel is going to be universally recognised by a generation of US troops and airmen as the enemy all over the world...! "HOSTILE!" "No, that's the real RNZAF and they're on our side"

Great article Don. I'd love to catch up with the Draken guys some day and have a chat.

One of their pilots came to the 75 Sqn reunion last year.
