I've had this old Heller based TEAL DC-6 model for 20 years, the original markings were brush painted on (no decaling) and paint was beginning to crack etc... I have decided to refurbish & make more accurate and put it into an earlier livery (like the Esci F.27 I restored a year or two ago, much cheaper to do things this way than to buy another kit for many $$$ on Ebay). I'd already swapped the outer engines over prior to the first photo, didn't follow detailed instructions during original assembly! The exhausts were on the wrong sides!! amazing what paint stripping you can achieve with oven cleaner! It now looks like a genuine 70 year old airframe awaiting attention, LOL You can see the fuselage join where I originally shortened the DC-6B fuselage to make it a 'Baby Six'. I've now scratch built and added the ADF blister on the lower port side of the fuselage The props will spin again too, first time in at least 15 years

Yep, pretty brutal process! Could also be a spares hulk sitting out at Fairbanks or similar However its given me the chance to tidy the model up, fill in seams etc as well

some visible improvement, seams filled, extra ADF equipment (underneath, not visible here) and masked and re-sprayed

Cheers! I had to improve the '6, It's going to be sitting next to the new Qantas Revell DC-4 (C-54D), when I get up the courage to start it !
