I remember doing a Skytrain at WB in 1988 and we were sitting around having a few beers and a few more, and someone said they hadn't locked up the aircraft or something so hoped into the van and raced up the flightline to do so. For some reason it was on the grass and when I neared it I didn't take into account the greasy dew on the grass and the van slid and was veering straight for the radome. I was thinking how am I going to explain this ( actually the thinking was just 1 x 4 letter word ) Luckily I veered past the front of the aircraft and stopped just in front of the prop. Could see my tracks in the grass in the morning when we went down to preflight. And that's my story.

Hahahaha, great story Beags. Were you on the Skytrain in 1992 or 93 when around seven S&S guys from Auckland came and joined us at Wigram for a week? I am trying to recall who was in that group. Mel Chambers was one. We had an Auckland vs Wigram S&S indoor cricket match and I took seven wickets.

Underarm? What's that?
Maybe it was just the Cargo Para section and one or two bods from the squadron in the Auckland team then.
