Chris Cornell, the lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave has died "suddenly and unexpectedly", aged 52. Very sad, I loved his music. Such a voice.

An amazing artist. His Bond theme for Casino Royale set a great benchmark for all that followed.
More awful news today.

Suicide apparently. You forgot Temple of the Dog in your list Dave. Very sad news indeed. RIP.

Formally ruled a suicide - by hanging, at his hotel after a concert. Awful.

Even if you didnt like his music - you'd have to admire his skills as a superb writer, musician and hid incredible vocal range, he could span 4 octaves, which was no mean feat.
But I loved his music, so I'm a bit bummed out over it. The black dog raises its ugly head again, mental health is a subeject that just shouldnt go away. And its knowing where to get help could mean all the difference...

The poor bugger had to battle in court for four years to get his 15 guitars back from his ex-wife. This sort of crap from ex's cannot ever do any good for a person's mental health.

I had no idea about that, Dave. Hell.
I've never been a "fan" of his as such - don't own any albums he's on, for example - but I've enjoyed his work, especially the aforementioned Bond theme. And I know he's a major loss to many people who love his music and have done for decades.
As someone who's kept the black dog at bay (with a lot of help) I understand a little of what he may have gone through. I feel for his family, friends and bandmates immensely.
