I was reading the C47 post and got to wondering what ever happened to this ol' bird. I took the picture in late 97 or early 98 at Dairy Flats if my memory serves me correctly.

I bet the Douglas people in the 1930's never expected that their creation might be still flying commercially in 2007, and that their baby would spawn inspiration for a whole new generation of turbo props in a post war world.

I remember taking a Champagne breakfast flight in AWP out of Paraparaumu in abotu '96 possibly '97. The whole Classic Air branding was a good idea but a shame it didnt pan out.

Having had a close look at the JPG online (in a graphics program) to me it looks like that Tongan DAK has been heavily JPGed (pixelated) to make it look very artificial as people have commented about here. Just my opinion. I gather the aircraft exists in the paint scheme we see at: www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5834763There are plenty of 'faked' aircraft photos out there. Photoshop has a lot to answer for. ;D

It is interesting to see that the layout of the Tongan colour scheme is almost exactly the old NAC pattern, but dark blue instead of Red. I certainly suits the old girl...
