It appears that the Heron recently restored by Classic Flyers in Tauranga does more than just sit around looking pretty. I was in Tauranga today doing my BFR and watched as at least two engines were prepared for running. Unfortunately I couldnt stay long and #4 seemed to be reluctant to fire up, but it did at least turn over! (which is a huge surprise to me considering how it was stored for so long). It would be great to see it taxiing, I wonder how well the pneumatic system works.... I hope they eventually got her running, pity I didnt see it

Thats amazing, restoring it to that capability so quickly. Well done. Had a flight Ardmore - Hamilton - Ardmore in an Air North Heron years ago. An interesting experience.

It is amazing, but I was so impressed with the high level of restoration they have achieved on it. I hope they get it under cover soon so the sea air doesn't rot it now.

Amazing the speed at which they got it into that condition! I will be interested to see how the Cat turns out....It certainly looked very challenged!

Parts for that Heron can't be easy to find, I know the Devon operators struggle at times to find spares. Tyres especially, so I am informed.
