An ex RAAF CAC Avon Sabre (Mk31) has recently been moved into the new NZ Warbirds hangar from the hangar containing the spitfire (near Avspecs) where it has been left in a neglected state for the past couple of years. The aircraft (A94-922) is supposedly owned by American warbird enthusiast Jerry Yagen although there is some speculation it may be now owned by an owner from South Africa. It was under restoration at Avspecs to flying condition for a time around 2005 until the restoration was cut short. www.adf-serials.com.au/2a94.htm contains information on this aircraft. Today me and two other NZ Warbirds volunteers cleaned her down for display. Also moved was this Rolls-Royce Avon Mk26 engine from the CAC Sabre, this is also on display.

Beautiful looking aircraft. Good to see it's in safe hands. If it does go to the US then its a bit like ice to Eskimos only the Aussies made it better.
