Visiting the UK on a driving tour taking in the sights and hopefully as many old aeroplanes as she allows??!! First stop the RAF Manston History Museum, not sure if the V1 out the front is a replica a good one if it is. Around 150 V1 flying bombs where destroyed by aeroplanes operated from RAF Manston. Web site www.rafmanston.co.ukOutside a couple of more modern types. Gloster Meteors operated out of Manston during the war, in 1945 a single seat Meteor broke the airspeed record near Herne Bay not far from Manston. The Americans had T33 Shooting Stars at Manston for a period of time in the 50’s. Another famous event in the region, the testing of the bouncing bomb of the Dam Buster’s fame was not far from Manston, a portion of a test bomb in the museum.
