Hello all, I've drawn up a new decal of the white "Mobil Mustang" ZK-CCG and ask for comments before I go to print. Also I tried to locate a member named "fockewulf" but he seems to have stopped using that name. Kerry was his first name. Kerry posted some photos of the Mobil Mustang and I'd love to use one or two in my decal instructions. Note that I have one of the "early" style Mobil decals with white behind it. For whatever reason, on the real aircraft, only the underwing mobil decal shows this white base. Probably an issue with reflection. Cheers, malcolm laird Ventura Publications

Very cool Malcolm. I have fired off a message to Kerry, hopefully he'll be in touch soon.

There are also several shots in the Graeme Cossgrove photo collection, published on this site
Emailed all I could see in the collection. They've all been scanned out of a photo album.

Great news Malcolm!
I have been talking to Greg MacDonald just recently about this and after I finish a Skyhawk commission build I am going to build a Tamiya 32nd kit as this one as his dad was the part owner with Ron. There are a few little details you might want to mention on your decal sheet. One being the oil vents being re-routed down to the rear fuse and coming out at the base of the rudder post, just fwd of the rudder hinge line.
If you look at the pics closely you can see them in the ones Peter posted
Would be awesome to have them in 32nd....hint hint!
Great to see you cover this iconic NZ Aircraft, good on you!
Cheers Anthony

Hi Anthony,
Thanks for the message. I'll add a note about the oil vent lines.
These decals will be digitally printed in a short run in 1/48th and 1/72nd so 1/32 should not be a problem.
I'll see what extra info is "shaken loose" following the 1/48th and 1/72nd versions before scaling up.
Yours, Malcolm

Great news!
Oh, I nearly forgot. There was printed in small blue lettering NZ2417 under the chin 'smile' scoop, very hard to see in pics. I have a photo in my collection somewhere of it.
Cheers Anthony

Oh, I need to check, but I think there was a Mach meter fitted where the gunsight used to be, hmmmm, maybe it was put on the panel itself. I'll need to check my refs. Also when the Armour plate was removed there was a cross brace type structure fitted that the seat bolted to. Fuel tank removed and radios placed on the floor directly. A Harvard seat was kept aside to fit in the back but never fitted. Strangely I spoke to a bloke on Friday who got to go for a ride in the back with Ron at the controls. He told me how he braced his feet either side and held on to the structure 'tight' lol, highly illegal but he said "A hell of a lot of fun for a 13yr old"
