Hi All Wonder if I could get some help on tracking down some historical info regarding Harvard NZ1065 based at Ardmore.
I have been trawling through the information that was initially posted following the purchase by Brett Nicholls but I didn't see anything relating to it's participation with the Red Checkers (maybe I missed something as there is a lot of info there).
Basically what I would like to know is if the aircraft was with the Red Checkers for the entire time from when they formed with the Harvards in 1967 right to the end in 1973 when they were disbanded?
I would be very grateful for the help as I'm preparing something special for Brett.
Regards Shooter

Cheers Dave that's awesome. So that's at least: 1967 1968 I just came across the NZDF Serial numbers site which states she appeared at the 30th Harvard Anniversary Flypast in Christchurch in 1971: www.adf-serials.com.au/nz-serials/nzharvard.htmThis photo also shows her in the No.4 slot in 1972 I think that's enough evidence to suggest she was used by the team or by CFS for the 6 year duration of the team before being disbanded!

Wigram will probably have lots of team photos showing the Harvards used in the team through the years too.

In my photo collection NZ1065 1967 Checkers Flt Lt D S Lloyd name under port cockpit front frame at Wigram This seems off because from my research, Flt Lt Doug Lloyd was not in the 1967 Red Checkers team. The team that year (the first ever Red Checkers team) were Flt Lt Thomas S. Lambert, Flt Lt Roger Henstock, Flt Lt Robin Klitscher, Fg Off Dick Metcalfe, and Flt Lt Ken Gayfer. I wonder if Lloyd was a spare pilot? This must have been the 1973-74 team which I have no information on at this time. Doug Lloyd definitely served in the 1968-69 Red Checkers Team, the 1969-70 Red Checkers Team, the 1970-71 Red Checkers Team, and the 1971-72 Red Checkers Team. He was not in the 1973-73 team. Do you know the exact date of that one? I have the RNZAC Pageant, Wanganui on the 7th of March 1970 and the RNZAC Pageant, Masterton on the 18th of April 1970. NZ1065 you mean.

Hi Dave, It must have been the 1968-69 team, as I left Wigram for Wellington in April 1968 and the photo is a black and white one which was my photography at the time. I incorrectly placed that pic with others that I took at Wigram on return from Singapore in early 1973. The other correction is yes NZ1065 was at Tauranga RNZAC pageant but it was on 22 February 1969 (not 1970) just confirmed it with my logbook which showed I travelled with CAS on NZ3542 from Wellington to Tauranga for the pageant. Most humble apologies!
