Hope I am doing this correctly. There was a large aircraft at Whenuapai a few days ago ,a four engine jet powered plane. It may have left yesterday. Is this a possible Hercules replacement? Thanks all

Well spotted. Did it have a T Tail as in the stabilizer and elevators on 'top' of the fin and rudder? If so it was probably a RAAF Boeing C17 Globemaster visiting from Australia. But I did hear the Australian Prime Minister was in NZ on Friday so perhaps it was a VIP aircraft. Cheers.

Gee, it didnt seem as big as a globe master but yes it di have the high T tail configuration. Ther was a huge delegation from Australia, including police and snipers, but it seems a bit of overkill to use a globe master. Thanks heaps anyway

Aussies went to Christchurch. I guess they used two BBJ's as it would be a brave move to have GG, PM and Leader of Opposition in one aircraft.

Flight Aware says ASY493 Richmond-WPE on Saturday and departing yesterday for Honolulu.

The prime minister, and leader of the opposition, and the governor general were all here from Australia, I think they were trying out the C-17 in case they need to escape in the next round of musical chairs in Canbera. isc

I thought they were over here to address calls for the NZ govt to take over running Australia.
