Controversy about the ownership of a 485 Sqn pilot's jacket.

An Irvine Jacket once owned by a 485 (NZ) Squadron pilot, Don Taylor, and kept for years by one of his fellow pilots, has turned up on Trademe.
Maurice Mayston's family say they want it back after it was loaned or given to a museum under uncertain circumstances.

A bit of he said, she said about that & in view of how Mr Mayston lent/gave it away originally, hard to prove either way. It would be interesting to hear from Mr Abercrombie how he came by it, & from there try to track which organisation he got it from Mr Mayston. It wouldn't be the first time that people have been deprived of their artifacts & medals by unscrupulous collectors, though I'm not pointing the finger at anyone in particular in this case.
