Hi team
I'm off to Reno in 3 weeks (woohoo) and I'm taking my camera kit. I have reserved stand seating and I've read this on the FAQ:
"Can I bring a backpack?
There is a bag check at the ticket gates and all bags, persons, vehicles, etc. are subject to search. For example, camera bags and day packs are OK, but large backpacks and large camera bags are not"
Well what defines a 'large backpack or large camera bag"? Let's face it... the average US traveler thinks it's ok to not checkin a huge suitcase and they force it in the overhead locker on the plane!!! My camera-bag isn't huge but it's not exactly small lol. Any user-experiences here???
Ta
Pete

Something like a 30l daypack will be fine, subject to passing the security inspection. Larger packs, with an internal frame, will be a problem. What they are more concerned with are wheelie bags and hard camera cases that pros use to move lots of gear safely.
Remember that you have booked a seat in the stand, and that does not include storage space for your luggage. If the stands fill up you can expect to have your bag in your lap or at your feet, so plan accordingly.

It's smaller than 30L and no internal frame - and it will fit between my legs once the 200-600 comes out. I've been careful to get a side-seat above the staircase (no seats in front) to minimise the disruption to others... because I care So looking fwd to some warm wx lol

A pity there will not be the Kiwi team to photograph this year. Sore point lol. When we booked the tickets, the tour promoter said they were! I’m pretty sure we will enjoy anyway. Two blokes in Reno... wives at home. What can go wrong??? I do however have the Kiwi team shirt and hat - so virtually there!
