From 9 this morning six of the squadrons Seasprites were heading east over Auckland at 10 minute intervals . We see the odd one over Whenuapai or off to Devonport , but this is the first squadron scramble seen. Whats up ? They are not commonly seen at airshows so perhaps just an exercise .

Hopefully just an exercise. It would be a bit rough if the Navy could put on a larger fly-by than the Air Force!

Not commonly seen at airshows? Not my impression. Only one at a time, however.

Probably their annual migration.

Its a new Navy technique 'smoke and mirrors'. There is actually only one.
Probably lots of operating money left to spend as the frigates have become long term hangar queens.

Another has just gone over and maybe one warming up. Unless its the same one as suggested I am surprised they have crews for them all.

Do we have a deal training Peruvians or something?
