A sad day for the British Commonwealth, and our Armed Forces.

Very sad news, indeed. She was a much-loved person, whatever one's views on the monarchy.
That's an excellent photo of her, too.

Despite being an advocate for a Republic, Her Majesty was the most gracious and selfless of Monarchs, along with her Father, whom she obviously shared many admirable qualities. It was an honour and a privilege to serve under you Ma'am. Rest in peace.

It was a sad, sad day. It all feels 'wrong'. All those things that people of my generation, at least, thought would go on forever are departing. Whatever people's thoughts of the Monarchy, her's was a life of dedication and service the like of which I feel we shall never see again. God Bless the Queen and God Bless the King

I watched the whole ceremony last night and can unashamedly say that I did have a tear in my eye at times. A beautiful moving service.
The pomp, ceremony, solemnity; the Whole was a credit to all who took part. The Brits certainly know how to lay it on.
I'm so pleased I watched it all.
I had also watched quite a few of the news clips and was amazed at the zig-zag lines of people all moving at a reasonable pace. The commentator made the comment that if there was one thing the British knew how to do, it was queueing! That just as a similar scene from Douglas Adams "Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy" flashed through my mind and I burst out laughing.

I too share the sadness of her passing. To me, she has always been there and it seems strange she has now gone. I recall seeing her and the Duke as they were driven past the bottom of our street where I waved a small paper flag as a preschooler, nearly 69 years ago.
