DAVISON, Squadron Leader Francis William, mid. NZ41885; Born Timaru, 2 Aug 1921; RNZAF 9 Feb 1941 to 22 Dec 1945; Pilot. Later Wg Cdr F W Davison, mid, RAF c.1948 to 21 Sep 1968, 59510. Citation Mention in Despatches (NY1946): For distinguished service. Served with 488 Sqn RNZAF (Mosquito). Earlier flew one tour with 255 Sqn RAF (Beaufighter). For his ‘rest’ tour he served as Chief Gunnery Instructor with 51 OTU. Credited with the destruction of one German aircraft. An early member of 488 Sqn (Beaufighter) with previous experience of night-fighter patrols.
