A very rare airplane in NZ, the Stampe SV-4 resembles a 'sports car' version of a Tiger Moth. A great little (read diminutive!) kit in 1/72 by Azur and a fun build (apart from the nasty Ezeline rigging which kept pinging off struts!). I've built 'BBV which has a Renault engine as opposed to a Gypsy version. It has already left the country (in UK now I believe, according to Aeroplane mag). I chose to build it as a 2 seater, although it mostly appeared with the front cockpit covered up Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr Next to Tiger for comparison Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr

Lovely work Harry! Nice to see a Stampe model, especially next to a Tiger.

Lol, was thinking you could have a lot of fun with a Stampe model…lots of Hollywood replicas have been based on these over the years…SE-5As in Aces High movie, the non-descript aircraft in ‘The Highroad to China’ to name another.

ZK-BBV is now owned by Stu Goldspink. A better pair of hands in which to be cared would be hard to find

A nice Stampe. I have built two of these kits and have two morel in the wings waiting to be started. One of mine is G-ATKC of the Tiger Club here in UK. I always remember the fine aerobatic routines these guys did. The other build is done as the Belgian Air Force 'Le Manchots' display team. There used to be a pair of these always attending the Biggin Hill Air Fair from mid 1960s until they phased out. Brilliant mirror formation routines and paired stall turns with smoke on. Glorious days.

Nice, those red and black trims in the paint job would have been tricky!
