You've lived in foreign climes too long Craig. It's still spelled 'metre' in sophisticated societies...

Err.......Metre and Meter are different words, and Calum's use is actually correct! He's talking about a measuring device, like a parking meter, and the other is a measure of length.
IT 's good that he's sucjh a nice guy!

Sirs and Madams,
I believe we could break the 10,000 post mark by having an in-depth discussion about the historical significance and the outstanding virtues the movie "Pearl Harbor" played on our society...

I would like to say that I reckon that Ben Assfkleck is the most awesomest P-40 pilot there is and I'm glad that he shot down all those Zero's so they couldn't come over and do harm in the Battle of Britain......
Damn this 105 octane smells good......

Yeah, I really like the way that he can fly down battleship row without taking one hit from friendly fire! ;D
105 Octane is for girls: real men sniff 120+ Octane! ;D

Stuff Pearl Harbor, did you hear the news that the film project The Few has been cancelled after Tom Cruise was fired from Paramount? A great shame as I was looking forawrd to that film. It could have been quite good, or on the other hand up there with Perl Harbor on the critics choice list.

Yeah heard that about Mr Cruise.
I reckon the movie would have been awesome spec effects but crap otherwise....they probably would have put him back into an F-14 for the BoB !!!

Yes. I have disliked his acting for years, long before it's become trendy to. And I dustrust big-budget Hollywood history films too. But as he's a genuine warbird pilot and enthusiast there's a slim chance it could have been well made (despite him in the lead). And it may have been a great chance to see some new footage of the Battle of Britain created using warbirds and cgi. I believe Fiske was flying a Hurricane and was shot down while battling Stukas - a site to see and i think never seen in a feature film yet.

Furthermore I found it interesting the two reasons the Paramount boss gave for terminating his contract, one was for being too individualist (jumpining on Oprah's couch, etc) and the other was about his whacky religion.
So when Mel Gibson makes some derogatory comments about a whacky religion he's castigated and will never work in Hollywood again. But the moguls have another set of rules... I thought of all places the USA would have strict laws on termination of employment due to religious grounds - oh but they may have been rescinded due to the USA's anti-Muslim stance of course...

Good morning all. My contribution towards the 10,000th. Pearl Harbour?.......don't get me started. Best scene had to be the jock in the P40 crooning to the girl on his knee.....and hardly a murmur from the mighty Allison in the background! Although those Jap pilots flying knife-edge between the buildings, and slow enough to stay behind the vehicles they were strafing was pretty impressive stuff.
