A story from a couple of days ago.
RAAF jet makes emergency landing December 13, 2006 04:33pm.
A RAAF Hawk training jet has made an emergency landing at Proserpine, in north Queensland.
The jet had been in transit from Townsville to the RAAF base in Williamtown, NSW, today with three other aircraft when it diverted to Proserpine with engine difficulties, a Defence spokeswoman said.
The pilot initiated emergency procedures and, accompanied by another jet, landed safely at Proserpine.
There were no injuries or damage to the aircraft.
Another Hawk diverted to Rockhampton because its fuel reserves were insufficient to continue flying to Brisbane's Amberley air base after assisting with the emergency.
The RAAF pilots from 76 Squadron had been been involved in Exercise High Sierra.
A maintenance crew from Townsville is on its way to Proserpine to determine the probable cause of the incident.
The Hawk Mk-127 aircraft is used by the RAAF to train fighter jet pilots.
