The Jack Rae epsiode was good viewing, i thought the airborne re-enactments were well done (except they showed footage of the pilot of a FW190 bailing out when they were trying to show Jack jumping). Look forward to the other episodes.

I have been watching and recording this series with interest, and I'm impressed. Not taking anything away from the excellent true stories of the people featured, but I do wonder why the documentary companies always concentrate on people who've already had their stories well told? That's a bit silly.
Jack Rae wrote a book, Jimmy Sheddan wrote a book, Nancy Wake's incredible story has been told in books, documentaries and a mini-series already.... And as for Upham....
Still, great to see though and much appreciated, even if there's little 'new' material there.

I think bringing a person's experiences and their story 'to life' on the screen makes it more likely that younger people will actually make time to watch these documentaries, and learn a bit about history and the people who helped make it. They would be less likely to read a book thats for sure!

The Jim Sheddan episode was also very enjoyable. The last aviator story on 25th, Geoff Rothwell RAF, is on this Saturday 7pm.

Sadly Larry Hill told me yesterday that Jack Rae - who featured in episode one - has been in a bad car accident, in which he lost his wife. Jack is in hospital in a bad way. Please spare a thought for him at this time.

There's a page here on the TVNZ site which has links to profiles of all seven participants in the series. I note too they are asking for comments to be posted about other Kiwis who served in the war - I wonder if they're loking for material for a further series. I hope so. tvnz.co.nz/view/tvone_shows_four_column_skin/kiwis_at_war_group
