I felt sick just watching that! ;D
Why don't they just bite the bullet, move the airport somewhere else and build a fast train link into the city from there!

Great film. I've had a couple of rough landings there, including one where the entire plane was screaming and we all thought we were going to die. Great fun.
Apparently it's much calmer than it used to be before they removed the hill - so I'm told by someone who operated Baffins there prewar. And they didn't have brakes! The erks had to run out and catch the wingtips in the wind!
It was always fun standing in the military terminal and watching landings on a rough day. You can't see all the action form the civil terminal.

I liked the last one of the dash-8 just wondering if he had to have the engineers take a few peeks at certain known stress points.

Its funny that all news coverage at Wellies is when a Northerly or Norwester is blowing. My work takes me into Wellington often. A bitching motherly southerly when even the sea spray can't gain enough height to leave the sea, is more pleasant than a moderate nor'Wester where the air dumps into Island Bay and dishes out the bash to anyone under 60 tons AUW.

No wonder I can seldom get a flight from Sydney to Wellington!

I liked the last one of the dash-8 just wondering if he had to have the engineers take a few peeks at certain known stress points. Yeah I was tinking that. I fly there a lot for work, and did a few flights in there when I was doing my PPL, its always different and you never know what to expect which adds to the challenge.
