Anyone else seen this book yet? A copy was bought for me yesterday, and having flicked through it briefly thus far, it is a wonderfully illustrated and detailed history of NZ National Airways Corporation.
A good job done by Richard Waugh with Peter Layne & Graeme McConnell. I'll continue to read through it and marvel at the excellent photos and NAC memorabilia.

Joe, I haven't seen it yet but if all went to plan, at least one of the photos in there of the crashed DC-3 that met its fate in the Kaimai Ranges was taken by my late father. Can you confirm if it was published please? He was Gordon Homewood. I submitted some photos to Richard and he was most interested. Dad and a friend were hunters and had trekked up there to see if they could do anything but by the time they got there it was too late.

I'll have a look later when I get home Dave. I also got the 1963 Kaimai Crash book written by Richard Waugh about two years ago. ZK-AYZ was the DC-3 involved. From memory it was also the first aerial search to involve a helicopter?

I have the Kaimai crash book too, which was Dad's originally. He had been saddened that he never knew it was being written till it came out as he had taken a number of photos. I met Richard at Wanaka last year and told him this and Richard said he might be able to include a few in the new book, as he was most interested in them.

Most booke stores will have it by now, mine came from 'Books and More'. There are two versions, a hard and a soft cover, definitely worth buying the hardcover.

Bought myself a copy on the weekend and am really impressed with it, especially with the collection of memorabilia that is featured in it e.g. timetables, baggage tags, etc.
Well worth the $70.

If you cant locate the book in store (surprising), try searching under isbn 0473120003. There are lots of online options, all the same price as in the shop from what i can see.
