THE GESTAPO HUNTERS by Mark Lax & Leon Kane-Maguire ISBN 1875593195 318pgs. www.banner-books.com.au/index.phpHave just finished reading this detailed history of 464 SQN RAAF, and it's role within 140 Wing alongside 21 SQN RAF and 487 SQN RNZAF during WWII. A very thoroughly researched and enjoyable read which contains some wonderful photographs (both personal and official) and quotes from squadron members. From fairly inauspicious beginnings on Venturas to becoming a part of a well oiled machine operating Mosquitos, 464SQN played a part in the famous 140WG raids on Amiens Prison and on the Gestapo HQs in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Odense. Also contains a Squadron Roll of Honour and extensive lists of operations flown, aircraft used, honours awarded, and commanding officers. Plenty of mention is made of 487SQN throughout this book, as well as several Kiwis who flew with 464SQN. A book I would highly recommend to anyone interested in WWII aviation history.

Great read that, lots of details, photos and serials for both aussie and kiwi machines.
I made an Aahurs 487Sqn mission and also one for the SS barracks raid post D-day for the sim IL2, based on the info in this book.
