A few photos I took yesterday. Progress on building the new pier is well under way. This is where the A380 will come in. Singapore Airlines SPR taking off. Leased from Malaysia and was registered 9M-MPE. TNE taking off. Colin

If the sale of Auckland airport goes ahead you could combine the colour schemes in the last photo Great pictures ! Interesting how the B737 is being towed off the main landing gear.

So where were you actually standing when you took those of the 737s Colin? Look to be taken from above ground level.

Nice photos Colin. What is that Pacific Blue plane? The wing looks to really tilt down forwards in the opposite direction from the flaps, is that right or an optical illusion?
Where's all that new terminal being built in terms of where the International terminal is? It looks pretty big.

PBB is a 700 series (I think) B737. The illusion on the wing will be because the leading edge slats are deployed. It actually gives some idea of the massive increase in camber (and therefore lower speed) that multi - slotted flaps + slats can acheive

Thanks Bruce. Is it longer than normal (Air NZ) Boeing 737's? Or does the paint job just make it look longer?

Bruce, that Virgin 737 looks like an 800 to me; I thought the 700 had a shorter airframe?

So where were you actually standing when you took those of the 737s Colin? Look to be taken from above ground level. I was hoping no one would ask where I was standing as I have been asked not to say. Perhaps that in itself is a clue? The Virgin 737 is an 800 series Boeing 737-8FE www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?distict_entry=true®search=ZK-PBBDave the building is extended out towards the Whatakeres where the big hard stand area is sort of north west of the present terminal. You can just see part of the existing terminal through the construction in the first photo which has the Auckland sign on the top. Thanks for comments guys. Colin

Thanks Colin. Any construction started on the second runway on the other side of the terminals yet?

Lovely shots. For such an old design the 737 is still a good looker.
