On Wednesday I went to Christchurch (cheap fares) to do a days spotting and here are some photos. While waiting for the call to leave I caught the JAL 747 charter aircraft taxing past for take off. (Sorry about window reflections.) While walking to the aircraft I held the camera at waist level and pushed the shutter button. "Smile" An inside view of the Thomsonfly 737 from row 13 just before I got off at CHC. Bit of excitement when this Metro returned and landed on one engine seen here with all the emergency vehicles around it. With the subsequent delay of our flight to AKL by the incident at WLG I was able to get this shot of the Convair taxing past to take off after sunset. Shutter speed was 1/10 sec and the VR (Vibration Reduction) feature on my lens does work eh? Our plane arrived all be it an hour late and we were off home to AKL. Yes the same one I came down on but had a different seat 15D. All in all a nice break from AKL to look at something different. I have lots of other photos and will post more as I go through them. Very nice photos Colin. What sort of lens has vibration reduction? That Convair picture is very cool indeed.

Is that Convair shot going straight to the pool room?

Thanks guys. What sort of lens has vibration reduction? The rather expensive ones or pro series lenses and now the lower priced ones are getting it too. Vibration Reduction is the Nikon variety. For Canon look for IS or Image Stabilized lenses. www.websiteoptimization.com/speed/tweak/stabilizer/Keep in mind with slow shutter speeds a good tracking technique is still required to capture a good result. This BMW really flies? Colin
