Hi all
Thought you would like the following video clip I made of the first morning of the event. Unfortunately the weather did not come to the party resulting in a dark/grey day for videoing. Nevertheless half a shot is better then no shot at all.
All the best
Marcus

Weather looks pretty cruddy for the next few days. The organisers have moved the event back nearly a month this year - Anything after mid March in our patch is always going to be a gamble...

Sadly, like the National Fieldays at Mystery Creek, whatever week they seem to choose always brings the nasty weather. There were meant to be balloons in Cambridge's Victoria Square yesterday and I would have gone along but decided the weather was too foul and it'd be cancelled. But my sister, who works across the road, told me later they were there. Pity I didn't go for a look.
Thanks for the video Marc. It's one of the few really interesting aviation events we get in the Waikato. I've still never yet managed to get to a nightglow, I'd like to see that someday.

Marc,
Great video, something I would love to do one day I am sure it would be a real treat to go for a ride.

FYI, due to the weather, the nightGlow event at the University of Waikato has been postponed until SUNDAY Night (weather permitting!).

I had thought, that as I was not be there for the first time in several years, the weather would be great. Last year (2006) I took the whole extended family to Hamilton and we stayed three days. Not a single balloon ascended during that time.
Though for the day - maybe they should hold the Hamilton balloon festival and the Louis Vuitton Cup sailing at the same place and the same time. Then, whatever the weather, it would suit one of the events!
