Looking at the Hamilton Airshow site and that for the Warbirds over Wanaka , those wanting info on what might be there are still being left in the dark . The Hamilton site has shown me nothing that might entice me yet and the Wanaka site seems to be indicating that Korean and Vietnam war jets might be on offer, but nothing specific . So what might be on offer that is new or different? I have no idea what Vietnam era jet might get here and would be disappointed if it just turned out to be Dragonfly . Is there the chance that we might see A Sabre , Meteor and Canberra ? Is there likely to be another Spitfire up and flying ?

I would imagine NZ's current resident warbirds will be at both shows, though I wouldn't expect that AFC's Hurricane would go to Hamilton. I am not sure when the Spitfire T9 is arriving but that may be at one or both shows? I would expect that the content of both shows could well be similar which may put some people off doing both.

I have been told by the President himself that NZ Warbirds is trying to be fully supportive of the Hamilton airshow to help get it established, so you can expect many of their aircraft (probably the Ardmore, Tauranga and perhaps New Plymouth contingents). I don't know if anything based at Wanaka will be up here though. Let's hope. The Hurricane has never been seen in the north to my knowledge, I think it's only ever gotten as far up as Masterton.
Is there any likelihood that many of the Masterton WWI aircraft will come to Hamilton? Only four made it to Wanaka last year and one of them crashed before the show. Howeevr that brochure does show some of them...

Well it sure would be nice to have some more exciting overseas stuff at Hamilton - mind you, how long is it since we've seen a JET aero team in NZ? I remember seeing a mention of a guest warbird at WAWOW..... Unfortunately I'm pretty sure - although I MAY be mistaken - that WOW06's advertising also boasted Korean and Vietnam-era jets, almost word-for-word as the 08 stuff. Re earlier stuff, talk of the MiG-3 and/or P-39, P-38 at Wanaka excites me, but how credible is that? How many more folk would turn up JUST because one of those were there? How many more did the CAF Wildcat bring in? I too have heard strong rumours of a Spit at Wanaka....and now Doug's T9 has been added to the mix! I heard at one point BOTH Temora machines, but who would pay for that? I *would*, all that's stopping me is money!!! Re the Hurri, it sure would be good to see it there. My first real airshow was Wings Over Wairarapa 2001 - seeing her and TB863 together made my year! Let's not take the Waikato brochure as total truth....it shows Michael Carlson's Bleriot, as well as a Triplane and TB863....

Apparently Warbirds over Wanaka will announce their aircraft line up next week . It may just be the 06 aircraft + the Temora Spitfire. Will Dougs two seater be up and running by then ?

Should be baring the paperwork, as long as it had an export ceftificate of airworthiness done prior to departure it should be a piece of cake.

Im hopeing like hell that the Ozzies turn up with a F111 and a Hornet (fingers crossed) My 7yr old son is mad on Military aircraft and has sat in most of the Skyhawks at Woodbourne but has never heard or seen a combat jet in flight!

mind you, how long is it since we've seen a JET aero team in NZ? Warbirds Over Wanaka 2006 - a team consisting of Two vampires, a Dragonfly and an L-39, and absolutely bloody impressive they were too, plus much more interesting and historic than four L-39's in my opinion. However I'l admit the L-39 team may put in a few more spectacular manouvres as they're a full time dedicated team (one hopes anyway...) i would hope that if a temora Spitfire is coming for Wanaka, which it seems is likely, that it would also make an appearance at Hamilton to make the trip worth its while.

Ah good point, I'd forgotten about the Wanaka formation! That certainly was spectacular, a nice surprise at '04 too! My apologies Dave, I'll do more research and get my facts right next time.

I recieved this e-mail this morning, which may be of interest:
"UNCLASSIFIED
Craig, Thank you for your recent inquiry to the Royal Australian Air Force. At this point in time, I can inform you that the Air Force is currently investigating possible ways in which it can support Warbirds Over Wanaka.
As far as Wings & Wheels Over Waikato goes, no invitation for Air Force participation has been received to date. Regards, SGT ########### Air Force Headquarters"

Well that is interesting in that the Waikato website now shows a C17 unless of course theirs is an American one !

Who would know. I forgot to ask about Ohakea, but maybe one of our resident RNZAF members can answer that one?
