I note some lovely photos in the latest Classic Wings from Gavin Conroy of the Wings Over Wairarapa airshow. Well done!
I also spotted Rob leigh has a couple of Duxford photos in the news section, well done Robbo!

I recently flew 'with' Gavin in an air to air sortie celebrating the anniversary of the first flight of a very significant yet often forgotten example of NZ vintage aviation. Gav made the most of a very versatile camera platform in a formation that wouldn't be immediately be considered compatible (if that makes sense).
All will become clear when the photos are 'developed'. We flew at a pre-determined time when the colour of the subject machine would contrast the most with the environment.
I gotta say that the results were breath-taking. I hope when these photos are made public, the results receive the appreciation that I felt when I got my copies.
I think the time is approaching when digital photography will overtake the photochemical process that we grew up with. Prehaps it already has. Gav snapped over 600 photos in the 20 odd minutes we were in formation. I have two enlargements and they are faultless in all aspects. They are due for publication in the weeks ahead in NZ.
Well done mate!

Well thats high praise indeed, thanks Dave and Radialicious. I do a bit of work for Classic Wings and you will see a lot more in the future as well. That flight was fun an challenging thats for sure but the results were more than worth it, and Im glad you liked the photos. Probably done 6 or 7 air to air sorties in the past couple of weeks with another 6 or 7 planned for the next two weeks it has been a lot of fun but some of the flights wouldnt have happened without the support of Aviation News. They have been great and have been keen to get some of the lesser heard of types in the air and photographed.
3 of the better shots will appear soon. 1 is a nice big shot on the next cover of Aviation News and an aircraft I have admired for a long time (Thanks Ryan for your help with it.) and the next two editions of Pacific Wings have two shots I really like in there Colour Wings section and it will be great to see them nice and big. Then there will be a few aircraft profiles in Aviation News of a few different aircraft like the one Radialicious is talking about.
In all of this though, the skill and enthusiasm of the pilots has impressed me. I do have a flying background and have a good idea of what can and cant be done but the formation skills have left me speechless sometimes.

That's a nice Mustang photo. By a small stroke of luck, I managed to get a small photo of Linda Courbold in it as well. Not sure why they chose to use Department of Defence instead of the name though. Considering all the processes involved in ensuring the metadata is correct. ;-)

It's no fault of Rob's. He has asked I have been just busy doing not aviation related things. Although I have been asked to do something this weekend that might just entice me away but it's yet to be funded/Approved by the powers.
