Those are superb shots. I'm amazed they were still flying there in the winds that were reported. It's awful that that little girl was blown under a bus and killed. Very sad. I'd hate to be landing in that weather.

very nice, quite like the one of the A320 roaring into the air with choppy seas in the background

Was rather windy today wasn't it. Wellington is becoming quite the aviation photography mecca

Nice shots there, Sam: good to see you guys getting out and making the most of your new toys.
Did you end up buying the Canon D400?

Dave yes that was tragic in every way about the girl in Christchurch, definition of freak accident there. If the airport was closed every time it got that windy in Wellington it would be closed a lot. The prevailing winds tend to be close to the centreline which helps I guess. I have flown in and out of Wellington in those conditions..... quite entertaining if you are in the right mood! Hard work for the crew though. Corsair I went with the Sony A100, and kept my Minolta lenses. Still learning how to drive the thing! And a few more from the northern end on Saturday in between passing showers. Note the artily placed power lines .

Bit grey on Saturday I see. Sorry, I took the nice weather north for the weekend. ;D Were you on the seaward side of Cobham Drive for these? Nice photos, we should catch up and have a chat at some stage.

Most of the south end shots were taken from the little driveway in front of the localiser housing (hence the power lines), although I crossed the road for one approach (the Q300 shot I think). Might head out next weekend for some more if you're around.

Nice shots Mumbles. Moa Point is a great place to take photos from when 34 is in use. I had never seen vortices whip up the water like that before though! You're like me, cant ignore the seagulls
