Caught up with this classic today. Light was not to good but the only time a Devon wouldnt look good in a photo would be in the dark. Will post some more soon. Special thanks to Barry for flying the Devon and to Al for flying the Chang so well.

Nice image, base looks the same as it ever was, just a new coat of paint here and there, plus those white cocoons top left. Looking at KTT, seems a few paint touch ups on the grey. Corrosion ?

It was a pleasure to fly Gavin today alongside such a pretty aircraft. The DH boys were well ahead of their time when they made that wee beauty. I did my RNZAF mech and tech training on the Devon and as a result they are a significant part of my aviation upbringing. I remember as a boy being asked by my Mum in Chch what was the aircraft flying over our house. I spotted it, raced back inside and told her that it was a Devon. Good old days! When the current instructional airframes come up for sale, I will probably consider tendering for one. Sure they have Redux adhesive and Gipsy Queen Series 70 grenades on the wing but what a pretty aircraft they have always been. Thanks to Barry for letting us fly alongside her today.

Good to see Barry finally got the props back on. The Devon was full of mechs? Showing faith in your work chaps

Lovely photo, Gavin - of such a lovely aircraft. I still remember the sound of the Devons as they flew around Christchurch in the 70s, and I missed them very much after they were finally retired. The F-27 never sounded quite the same.

That was one of the cooler things about living in Blenheim, at 2115 each weeknight the Airwork F-27 (visible on the apron in Gav's shot) would fly over...first time I'd ever heard or seen a Friendship! I miss that...
Superb, Gav! Driving out to a mates place in Renwick toward the end of my stay I'd see KTT and wonder what she was doing in town. Nice to see her in the air again!
