We spent sometime at the B-24 Liberator restoration project Werribee before flying home yesterday and I took a few photos that I thought would be worth while uploading here. Well worth a visit if your in the area and they hope to have it restored to a run the engines stage by 2010 and in a bigger hangar a short distance away. Hangar hiding a BIG project? Nose view Restored engine. Nose gear Inside bomb bay looking rearwards. Waist turret Bullet holes in Port under carriage wheel well. Tail turret Tail area Starboard under carriage A part that they could do with more of. Upper turret Front view Many thanks to Nat for the detailed guided tour. www.b24australia.com/Colin

Fantastic images, Colin.
They are going really well with that project, considering what it looked like when they started and after all the dramas they went through to obtain the fuselage.
I have to get back to Melbourne sometime again this year to check the Liberator out and to also visit Moorabbin as well.

Very nice indeed. You mention they plan to be able to run the engines in three years time - does that mean this is an airworthy restoration?
Did they ever recover the parts stolen from there a year or two back? I recall it was mentioned in Classic Wings.

That's a shame. But at least they're doing a top class restoration in case money comes along later.
