Flights as normal despite strike plan, says Air NZ The Dominion Post | Wednesday, 07 May 2008 Air New Zealand is confident that flights will not be disrupted if its engineers take industrial action from Friday. Nearly 1000 engineers said last week that they would refuse overtime if Air New Zealand did not improve its pay offer of a 3.4 per cent increase a year for the next 28 months. They want a 5.8 per cent increase a year. Mediation has been adjourned till tomorrow. "At this stage we are confident of being able to maintain our scheduled services," an airline spokesman said. Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union aviation organiser Strachan Crang said workers were entitled to a fair share of the gains made as a result of the massive restructuring two years ago that cost 300 engineers their jobs. www.stuff.co.nz/4513432a34.html
