According to tonights news, this weekend the last issue of Life magazine runs of the presses. Aparently dropping readership has forced it cease the monthly magazine, although photo images from its archives will continue to be available at www.life.com. What a sad indictment on society that trash "womens" magazines pay thousands for paparazzi photos, and have booming sales, when the recognised pinnacle showcase of photojournalism has to close. Life has published so many iconic images over the years, the work of true photo journalists, images that cannot be compared to the "stalker" works of the Paparazzi. Where do photographic artisans aspire to now? sad, very sad......

I seriously thought Life magazine had become defunct a little after the war and had been merged with Time magazine. I've never seen a copy for sale as far as I recall. I wouldn't ever bother with buying Time either, I'm not interested in US politics.

Although I never subscribed to it I have to agree Bruce it was the pinnacle for photo journalists and hopefully a web based version will take its place. www.life.com/Life/Life goes to War? www.life.com/Life/gallery/0,26649,1543321,00.html Colin
