I think its a stylised swordfish or marlin. It does however have close NZ links, at one stage Air NZ held a shareholding in it, and Air NZ aircraft have regularly been leased to it.

They are far from defunct - currently have fleet of 737s, 767s, 747s and ATRs with a fleet of 787s on order. Current routes to the US, NZ, Aust, Japan and many Pacific islands

Some interesting info here? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_PacificControversies is an interesting read and I had never heard of that before. Colin PS Just recently ANZ discontinued a 767 flight via Nadi in favour of code share with Air Pacific?
