Don't know if you guys saw any converage but the RAF flew Les Munroe, the last surviving Dams raid pilot back from NZ to the UK where he was guest of honour at the flypast to commemorate the 65th annivesary of the raid.
The BBMF Lancaster did three passes over Ladybower dam in Derbyshire, whichwas used as a training target in the run up to the riads. She later teamed up with a couple of 617 Squadron Tornados and the Memorial flights Dakaota. Finally a Spit and Hurricane flew past.

Yes it has been on the various evening news programmes. There's a thread under the perservation board too about it. I noted Sky News's clip seen on Prime News managed to spell his name wrong! Dickheads. Some great shots though.
Les also flew down the lake and over the dam in a helicopter with a camera aboard. He still looks spritely for 89. i hope he's around to see the new film released.

I had hoped to go as the Dams are only about 10 miles from my home, but had to take my 8 year old daughter to hospital.
I was suprised how much coverage the event got. I guess our politicians are trying to get more publicity for the Armed Forces( rather than providing them with the right kit or indeed not getting them involved in wars).
