Spotted on the 77Sqn Mirage fin at Ohakea today. The small text is latin, the aircraft is a SAAB Viggen, hence I'm thinking this zap may be of Scandinavian origin .

I presume, having tried translating 'tubas' on Swedish to English translation pages on the net, that it simply refers to the tuba instrument (the pipe). The latin Smper gradu antes means 'always to conduct one's self before'. www.tranexp.com:2000/Translate/result.shtml

Does that mean "Blowing one's own trumpet"?

Doing a Google search on "Tubas Sweden Viggen" I found some pdf documents (in Swedish) that appeared to be related to the Swedish airforce field deployment exercises (Where they fly off roads etc) TUBAS appears to be some acronym associated with these exercises. If you look closely at the sticker, the picture could show the viggen on a road rather than a runway. Not speaking swedish I cant confirm this however.

However I have sent out thise thread to a friend of mine ,and I hope he will be able to help us in the near future. Sorry I cant be any more help guy's.
