Does Air New Zealand have any sort of historical department or library where they keep old documents, photos, artifacts, etc?
Or do they leave this all to MOTAT?
What I'm wondering is whether any museum or collection anywhere has the personal effects, and most importantly the flying logbooks of Sir Geoffrey Roberts, father of Air New Zealand?
Does anyone know where such documentation is, does his family still have his logbooks pehaps?

Don't know Dave but there is a lot of stuff at Classic Flyers in the boardroom upstairs as one of the guys took me on a tour and there is lots of books, ANZ models etc and more coming in he said. Many of the retired employees were not only giving their time but also their memorabilia to the museum.

That's good to know, thanks Colin. I am particularly keen to find Sir Geoff's logbook for 1940-41 to clear up a few mysteries in my research. If anyone out there knows where they are held I'd love to hear please. I just thoguth if Air NZ has a library/museum then they might likely be there.

They must surely have a company archive.

There are certainly a few people working there who have a huge knowledge of the history of Air New Zealand

Dave, just a thought. Maybe you should try contacting someone who has had recent experience of this sort of thing, such as Rev. Richard Waugh. He must have accessed a lot of old Air New Zealand stuff when he was researching his NAC 60th Anniversary book, or at least would know where to go to get that information.
