It has been a couple or more years since I visited Motat 2 and I was pleased to see that the tramway has been completed from Motat 1. Ticket price ($14) includes the ride and admission to Motat 1 or vice versa. The sign on the Tram is a bit optimistic as it says South Melbourne Depot? ;D All jokes aside this has been a very long time work in progress as I can remember it being promised 30+ years ago. Well done to all those involved and may we all use it so we can keep it. Colin PS maybe some of that new regional petrol tax could be syphoned off to support it if need be? ;D

Yes I saw the grand opening of the new piece of track from the Zoo stop to Keith Park Memorial Airfield a few weeks ago on the news. Well done to them. I remember riding the first section which never got as far as the zoo back when I was a kid so it has been a long time coming alright. Of course in those days they also had London double-deckers taking people between the two sites.
One thing I noticed when i was up there in November 2005 is that wehn school is out at 3pm-ish, the kids at the local school next to Motat 2 all jump on the tram and get a ride down to their bus stops at Motat 1, for free by the looks of things. So it gets some practical use as well as for tourists and site-seeing
