Spitfire - big whoopie! ;D
I can almost hear the Merlin roaring in those photos of her in flight.
I guess the intention will be to offer joyflights in this Spity?

Never sick of the Spitfire. ;D Spitfire - big whoopie! ;D I can almost hear the Merlin roaring in those photos of her in flight. I guess the intention will be to offer joyflights in this Spity? From what I can gather, there is a new push by NZ Warbirds (soon to be reflected in the website I hope) to promote the fact that there are 3 twin seat WW2 fighters at Ardmore - as well as many other historic aircraft - and to offer flights on a cost share basis. This would involve becoming a member of Warbirds first but I get the impression they're putting a case to the CAA to get around this. Cheers, Stu.

That is great news, Stu. Not that I can probably afford to go for a flight at this stage! Obviously, the US Govt decided that this aircraft wasn't a threat to Global SecurityTM?

Could a special category of Warbirds membership be organised, such as 'associate member' for $5 or something to cover the flight?

Could a special category of Warbirds membership be organised, such as 'associate member' for $5 or something to cover the flight? Associate membership is currently available on a per annum basis ..... www.nzwarbirds.org.nz/membership.html. I guess what you mean is a per day basis Dave? Cheers, Stu.

Yeah, or a week or whatever, just to get round the rules.

Out of interest. what is the Warbirds newsletter like? Is it big, full of articles and photos etc? Or is it just a sheet with brief happenings on it?

Why bother? Associate membership is $99, from memory. If you are charging something north of $1500 for a ride the difference between $5 and $99 is negligible. It's not as if herds of potential 'cost sharers' are going to wander next door and go for a ride in their two-seat Spitfire.
About the only thing that fiddling the rules will do is annoy the CAA, and you don't want them to get ticked off because they might decide to shut down the flights altogether.
Scramble is the newsletter of the NZ Warbirds Association, and it is generally two sheets of A4, printed on both sides. It usually contains news updates from the major syndicates, calendar of events, association news, relevant CAA information etc.
