This morning I had just got out of the shower when I was disturbed by the very noisy sound of a chopper approaching, and it just got louder and louder. I thought it was the rescue chopper which (sadly) goes across here all too often, but it sounded a hell of a lot closer and louder. I went out the back and saw sure enough the rescue chopper was on final approach, wheels down and about to land in the polo ground across the road. So I go dressed quickly and wandered over to see what was occurring. Half the neighbourhood were there with their cameras too, and there were a couple of hundred kids lining up. It was obvious that they were there for some sort of demonstration for Cambridge's school kids. So I took a few photos before I had to dash off to town. The sky was so blue and the aircraft so red I think the camera was having a bit of trouble focussing but these are the better ones anyway. This one is looking into the sun but you can see the attentive crowd of youngsters And here are the crew members who were giving a talk on their work. What awesome guys. I wish I could have stopped longer but had to get to town so I missed the end and the take off By the way, since the Cambridge Polo Club moved to this Lamb Street site and turned some greenbelt catle fields into one large well cared for park, I have always thought it'd be a great place for a light aircraft fly in. It's very flat and smooth, and well maintained short grass all year round, plus it's massive. I'd love to see a fly-in there one day.
