Tomorrow marks the 45th Anniversary since the death of one of New Zealand greatest aerial pioneers, George Bruce Bolt.
I have to say I find it amazing that with all the work he did in his early pioneering days and in training New Zealand military aviators in WWI, the fostering of aviation between the wars, and his service in WWII as one of the RNZAF's top engineers, that he was never awarded a medla to show appreciation for his efforts.
Thankfully he is rememebred in Auckland at least with the very prominent George Bolt Memorial Drive at the Mangere airport, but I wonder if most Aucklanders even have a clue who that road is named after.
