After a lot of planning, a few attempts and a bit of luck with the weather we got these three aircraft photographed yesterday. made the call at 5.00am yesterday to have a go and although the sun came and went, the aircraft looked great. The Yak 55 is a real performer and would be a lot of fun. I had a few minutes to have a quick look around Wigram and it is quite sad that flying will no longer be a possibility soon. The hangars are in good condition and it will be a shame if they are all pulled down. Many of us have some great memories from that place and its a big loss and not sure where all of the aircraft will go. Apart from that a great day with a great group of people. Rob Neil from Pacific Wings came along as well and you can see him at work below. Have heaps to sort through as I compensated a lot during the flight for good and bad light and am starting to find some nice ones.

Ah I wondered what was happening, I woke up to the sound of lovely radials doing their thing yesterday (I work nights), and today too actually, and as I lay in bed listening I thought just how much I'm going to miss that (assuming the lack of a sudden outbreak of common sense from those involved in the near future).
As always Gavin, great photos.

Nice. That Yak 55 looks fun all right!
I understand it's only No's 6 and 7 Hangars under threat, isn't it?

Niiice tight formation Gav are you shooting RAW as apposed to Jpeg? I normally take a mixture really. the Jpegs seem to work well for me providing the photos are good coming out of the box and will get to the raw files some day. There are a load of them in my hard drive but havent had a chance to play with any yet.
