Hi all, heres some pics of my latest Skyhawk model. 30 inch span, radio controlled, electric ducted fan powered. Colour scheme is loosely based on the last single green scheme worn, bottom of the model is all light gull grey to help me tell up from down. Power is a 68mm HET 4 bladed fan running on 4 Lithium polymer cells totaling 14.8V. Should be good for 150kph at full throttle, first flight probably next weekend. Markings come from the original signwriting files at work, scaled down but still not right I know (but you wont know when it goes past). If this one works out well I might do another with retracts and flaps etc and scale it up a bit more. This is my first ducted fan so keeping it simple for a start. A 100+ page forum about this kit is here www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=826052if you want to have a look. Kit cost in NZ is $109. In finished ready to fly state its about $1000 sitting on the lounge floor, scary I know. Cheers, Les.

Hi Les, very nice looking T-Bird. Good luck with the maiden. I am building one too. Mine will be in the 70's SEA camo colours. $1,000 ... yes well I was trying not to think about that. Heres some pics of where all $$$ go. I was thinking that this kit would be an interesting project for some of you hyper scale masters to get your teeth into. Its 1/12 scale and with a bit of kit bashing and fibre glassing you would certainly have something no-one else has made. Kit price of $109 includes a GWS fan unit that you could flick off on TradeMe for $20 so start up cost is not too high. Dare Design has nice smart bombs and sidewinders that would probably fit the bill. Will let you know how I get on with mine. KiwiKid

Great photos Kiwikid, thanks for posting them. It's interesting to see the fuselage is made from foam, you wouldn't want to ding it into the ground, would you?
I hope you keep us up to date on progress of these kits guys.

Hi Dave, normally fly at Ambury Farm near Mangere Bridge here in Auckland, however we are limited to gliders and lower powered electrics there, so this will get its maiden at Whenuapai. I'm also a member of the base club there as well. Lots of flat grass for belly landing on. Les.

I'm impressed too, I would like to see a photo or two of them in flight if possible.
