Hi guys, got the below today. Can anyone assist in identifying this guy? Les.
I received the following email from a modelling friend in South Carolina. Can anyone assist?
Brian There is a gentleman (I think he lives near the Bay of Plenty) who is the leading expert on the history of DH aircraft. I had his e-mail address at one time, but during one of my periodic computer problems, the address got away. Do you happen to know who I'm talking about? There may be a museum as well.

'Janic has always been interested in civil aircraft built prior to 1960 and he and Norman Eastaff (1928-2002) spend many hours checking the de Havilland archives that Norman intended to publish as Magnificent Enterprise.' www.nzaviationpress.co.nz/production-team.html'NZ Aviation Press have just published a book called MOTHS, MAJORS & MINORS which covers the 1926-1939 period of de Havilland aircraft and engines and propellers. This is volume 2 of the series. Volume One: AIRBORNE, AIRCO & AIRLINERS is not due to be printed until 2006. There will be four more volumes after that. MOSQUITOES, VAMPIRES & VENOMS to cover the military designs, and BEAVERS, COMETS & DOVES the civil machines. After that there will be two volumes of production lists giving serial numbers, engine details and original owners. No fates. By the way it was started by former de Havilland employee Norman Eastaff who sadly passed away in 2002 handing the project over to Janic Geelen.' scale-models.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1444Janic Geelen of New Zealand who is working on a history of the de Havilland Aircraft Company writes: 'I checked through the web page and found that some folk in your organisation have done research on Airspeed. Since this comes into the de Havilland Aircraft story it will be included in the two volumes that cover the 1940-1975 period. I have experienced a lot of problems trying to integrate the Airspeed side into the overall de Havilland story and would appreciate help from anybody who was working for the factory at Portsmouth or Christchurch. They can contact me at: janic_g@yahoo.com (postal address: P.O. BOX 129, Waiuku, New Zealand) I know this has little reference to Nevil Shute and those references are included in volumes 1 and 2 of MAGNIFICENT ENTERPRISE. So far only volume two has been published. It is called MOTHS, MAJORS & MINORS and there are a few references to Nevil Shute in that. One about him designing the propeller for the DH 53 Hummingbird and there is a photo of Hesell Tiltman helping with the DH 71 Tiger Moth.' www.nevilshute.org/Newsletters/nl2005/nl050801.php(scroll down)
