Congratulations Mumbles and best wishes to you all.
Can never have too many girls - my little poppit is almost 192 months old and, despite a few grey hair moments and (more recently) monosyllabic teenage grunts in lieu of conversation, she is one of the greatest things to happen in my life. I'm sure you'll soon discover the joys, and occasional heartaches, of having a daughter.
Cheers, Stu.

Mumbles
Congratulations big time to you and your family!!! ;D
Little girls are great, they wrap their dotting dads around their little fingers from the moment they are born.....
Mine's just turned three and a proper little madam, just be warned ;D
Regards
Alan

Congratulations Mumbles. Agree with Alan, but that enjoyment only lasts until they discover boyfriends.

Thanks everyone, it has been a memorable few days, although admittedly it is only since yesterday that they have started to separate out again and not all feel like the same one ;D. If you want the stats, she was 2.7Kg / 5.9 pounds, born after a 3 hour labour. After a ragged few days, mum is now doing well, although both of us feel a bit 'behind the aeroplane' at times . Unfortunately her arrival has been a little more exciting than we would have liked, as she needed emergency surgery on Thursday to correct an unforseen defect in her oesophagus, and is currently residing in the neo-natal ICU in Wellington, rather than at home where we would prefer her to be. That said, the surgery went well, and it is just a matter of waiting out the recovery and assessment periods before she comes home, hopefully somewhere near her due date, which is still 12 days from now. She arrived two weeks early, technically full term rather than prem, but only by a few days. Her prognosis is very good, and she has no other issues at the moment . Its been quite a ride so far, and she is only 4 days old! Thanks again for your good wishes, all appreciated

Mumbles, take some advice from a terrified father who had to do it - learn CPR for the baby. My elder daughter once went blue and her heartbeat was barely a tremor, and I had to do the two-finger deal on her chest. Subsequently set a landspeed record to the nearest ER, and all went well. It's a good thing to learn. Go well.

Just an update not to leave people hanging...... Here is Charlotte at about 36 hours old and in the ICU straight after surgery. The entry incision for the op is under her right arm so you can't see it here And here she is with dad yesterday, sans chest drain, breathing tube, feeding tube, and right foot cannula ;D Still wired for vitals and a drip in her other foot, but otherwise free ranging, starting to get the hang of feeding, more alert every day and generally great Hopefully home within the week if all goes well. Thanks again to all for your kind words.

At least you didn't have to fly in an air ambulance Sam. All the best mate.
