These two aircraft have been flying in and out of Woodbourne over the past couple of days which has been great. Not sure why they are here but a great sight indeed. One is flying in a colour scheme similar the the USAF C-17. Am looking at photographing a wider range of aircraft from here on instead of just Warbirds as if it flies I am interested so will see how we go.

Both being J models.
there are 3-4 very easy ways of telling the difference in those photos from the H model.

Nice shots. Perhaps they're stocking up on supplies from the Montana vineyards?
The illusion caused by the shadow on that second shot make it look like a low winged aircraft at first glance.

there seems to have been a fair bit of muck of some sort thrown off the props of '50 - theres splatter all over the fuselage in line with the props!

The whole RAAF Hercules fleet will be painted in the new darker colours over time. At the moment around 5 aircraft are in these colours including 2 H models.
Nice photos!

Love the photos Gavin, look forward to seeing more of your diversifying work on non-warbird types.

There are a few in storage or in various bits now (older models) but I don't know the final score for all operational Herks. Do you require these included in the tally? Probably one can only guess for 'operational' anyway here is the RAAF official website link: www.airforce.gov.au/aircraft/hercules.htmADF-SERIALS in their "Series II" listing have the history of each airframe. At the moment there are 12 J models and I gave up trying to count any other models in use but you can do that if required. I had a break to count the other models which looks like ELEVEN with one (to make TWELVE) in deep maintenance but this may no longer be true. www.adf-serials.com

Agreed - nice shots indeed
i especially like the first shot which shows the green tint of the head up displays in front of the pilots
certainly looks bigger than most fighter HUDs
