Was in Queenstown for the day on business, some obligatory photography was done in the downtime, here are the aviation related ones... I went up the Skyline cablecar to find the Helicopter Line craft HMB deliverying some people up there, they did a nice pass in front of the viewing deck. Qantas was really hurring passengers onto this aircraft returning to Christchurch and on to Auckland, they seemed to be somewhat concerned to get moving before "the weather closes in". Meanwhile my ride was late arriving back, not that I mind because the QT terminal is great for watching the comings and goings. At this point I was going to insert a photo of a seriously attractive lady ground staffer ushering the passengers off the aircraft, unfortunately it was crappily out of focus, you'll just have to make do with the burly blokes unloading the baggage It'd been just *wanting* to rain all day, but never quite got there. Naturally, when I booked the flights for the trip I ensured to pick good seats, always more interesting if you can see the prop in my opinion. Departing QN. Overhead QN. Getting a decent prop blur is very difficult, especially in the very bright white cloud (of which as you can see there was lots), reducing the shutter speed further than this just wound up overexposing.

Very nice shots of ZK-HMB, James. I have always thought those THL Squirrels look really smart, and they have never seemed to date or get old hat despite being around since, what, the mid-1980's?

Nice shots of action at Queenstown James. I like that airport for spotting and don't get there often enough. What seat number were you sitting in on the Dash 8? I had my first ride on a Dash 8 yesterday and was in seat 11A outbound and 8A inbound. 11 was a bit too far back to get some good shots of the gear retracting and coming down. 8 was okay if there was no rain. Still better than an aisle seat in a 737 Colin

Still better than an aisle seat in a 737 Colin Definitely! I found interesting the Dash 8 the seat cushion is your life preserver. Of course only in the unlikely event of actually having to use it.

What seat number were you sitting in on the Dash 8? I think you'll find it was an ATR 72 :-) The big giveaway is that the mains on the 72 are under the fuselage, while the 8 has the mains under the engines. Seat 06A.
